Obituary for Jacob "Jake" Carl Carlson

Jacob “Jake” Carl Carlson, 69, passed away in his home October 4, 2018 after a brave battle with cancer. Jake was born in Gunnison, Utah on October 25, 1948 to Carl Jacob Carlson and Donna Ruesch Carlson. He was raised with three wonderful sisters: Ruth Lowry, Faye (Wayne) Kotter, who preceded him in death, and Karen (Norm) Stanley. Raised in Manti, Jake later moved to Ogden and graduated from Ogden High. Afterward, he joined the army. While stationed in the San Francisco area, he met his wife, Linda Cantu. They were married in 1969.

Much of Jake’s time was spent outdoors; fly fishing with flies he tied, float tubing for Rainbow Trout, deer hunting off of Skyline on the Manti-La Sal, Sage Grouse hunting on his annual Wyoming trip, or ocean fishing in the Sea of Cortez. While at home he was active with home projects and maintenance, and was available to lend a hand to those who needed it. He enjoyed sports and was a fan of the San Francisco Giants, 49ers, and Colorado Avalanche.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years and their only child, Damon. A man of few words, his heart could always be found with his family and three beautiful grandchildren; Kennedi, Hailey, and Cruz. At Jake’s request, there will be no services.

Thank you to family and friends for their support and kindness. Thank you to the staff of the Utah Cancer Specialists and Quality Home Health and Hospice. A special thank you to Makell.

We love you and miss you. See you on the other side.
