James "Ted" Tucker Jr. Obituary (1926 - 2010)

James “Ted” Tucker Jr., devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, joined his wife Barbara Lee in the eternities on Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 2010. Our parents are now “2-Gether”again as they were here on earth.Dad was born to James Edward Tucker, Sr. and Alice Verlie Lambourne Tucker on November 10, 1926. Ted retired as a Station Manager for the US Postal System in 1984, from the Naval Reserves as a Senior Chief in 1986 and had previously served in the US Navy during WWII where he participated in Operation Crossroads aboard the cruiser USS Fall River and toured the South Pacific as part of the occupation forces following the close of the war. He cherished his years in service to his country and spoke often and proudly of his experiences with the Navy. His examples to all he met and influenced in life exemplify the spirit of those who comprise this country’s Greatest Generation.Known to his grandchildren as “Grandpa Pockets” Ted always had a treat or a two dollar bill ready for good luck. He has left us with a pocket- full of lasting memories. As a father and husband, he could not have been loved more by his adoring wife and family. His passing will leave a longing for his presence and he will be deeply missed.Ted is survived by his son Craig (Orpha) Tucker, a daughter Lindsay (Richard) Jenkel, seven grandchildren and 16 great grand children. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Barbara and three brothers (Spencer, Bill and Alan) and one sister (LaRee). The family is thankful to the staff of Caresource for their attention and care given to our dad.As dad wished, private graveside services with a Military Tribute will be held Monday, November 29, 11:00 AM at Murray City Cemetery. A brief family gathering at 10:00 will precede the service under the direction of Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State, Murray.Thank you dad for a lifelong example of living courageously….Goodbye Grandpa Pockets.…Calm Waters Ahead…
