Jared Lillard Tucker Obituary (1936 - 2020)

Our beloved husband, father and grandfather returned home to the open arms of our Savior Jesus Christ and our loving Heavenly Father on Sunday, January 5, 2020. Jared married the love of his life, Janet Hunt, on December 19, 1958 in the Salt Lake City Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Jared was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was a valiant servant as he served in various callings in his church. He enjoyed serving in the scouting program, serving as Bishop of his ward, going on a mission with his sweet companion, and most recently serving in the Jordan River and Oquirrh Mountain Temples as an Ordinance worker. Jared spent a good part of his life involved in sports. He was the head coach of the Green River High School Pirates basketball team for many years and lead them to the state championship. When he moved to the Salt Lake Valley he was also a coach at West Jordan High School. He spent his career as a Media Center Coordinator, Bus Driver and Driver’s Ed. Instructor for Jordan School District. He also drove the bus for LeBus Company. He enjoyed spending time with his family in the outdoors camping, fishing, riding ATV’s and telling stories of his adventures. Some of his favorite times were camping and fishing trips with his sons and other vacation trips with his family. His whole life he has enjoyed having a garden. His favorite part was taking care of it and sharing the fruits of his labors with his family and friends. He was a master at producing perfect tomatoes and passed that love down to his sons and grandsons. He also had a passion for woodworking and crafts that he shared with each of his grandchildren. He always looked forward to that one Saturday a month picking up his grandkids and taking them to Home Depot to make wood crafts and going for frozen yogurt afterwards. Jared is survived by his wife, Janet. Daughters Shauna (Sonny) Schmidt of Taylorsville, UT, Carlene (Dale) Dawson of Peoria, AZ, and sons Derek (Jill) and Kory (Heather) of West Jordan, UT. Eleven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints located at 9227 Wild Clover Lane, West Jordan, UT 84088 on Saturday, January 11th. There will be a viewing from 11:00 A.M. - 12:45 P.M. Services will begin at 1:00 P.M. in the chapel.
