Jenifer Thompson Simondi Obituary (1979 - 2020)

On Thursday, December 10th, 2020, Jenifer Thompson Simondi, our beautiful, loving daughter, sister, cousin and friend to many, passed away at the age of 41. She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on September 16, 1979 and spent her early childhood there until moving to Columbus, Ohio in 1985. She returned to Utah as a teenager in 1996 and graduated from Hillcrest High School with the class of ‘98. After high school she attended the University of Utah, obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development and Family Studies in 2002. She returned to the U in 2009 and graduated four years later with another degree in Psychology. Jenifer adored making people laugh and smile, and was passionate about dance and music. She was also a devoted lover of animals - always caring for her rescued cats and making sure wherever she went they were taken care of. Jen started dancing as a young child, and her talent and love of dance and music continued throughout her life. She was part of the Dance Company at Hillcrest High School and continued her pursuit of dance while attending the University of Utah until a back injury curtailed that dream. But while dancing took a toll on Jen’s body that didn’t stop her from grooving on the dance floor with friends and strangers alike. Whether on stage, at a wedding or at the club, Jenifer was never afraid to share her talent with others. This confidence and light attracted many people and allowed Jen to build strong bonds throughout her life. Posters of musicians and bands were always proudly displayed on Jenifer’s walls, and CDs and cassette tapes filled her shelves and drawers. She was never shy to recommend an artist or song and was always looking for new suggestions from others as well; she connected with people through music. Life wasn’t always kind to Jenifer but that didn’t stop her from being kind to everyone who crossed her path. She was searching for her place in this world and, although she left it early, leaves behind memories of her beautiful smile, laughter and warmth. Jen loved dance, music, animals and mostly her family. Her memory will live on with those in Utah, her dad Jim Thompson and step-mom Denise, brothers James and Danny Thompson, and with family in Ohio, mom Lesli Glandon and step-dad Tom, sisters Caitlin Glandon and Amy Heyman, and many other family members and friends. Our hearts are broken but we hope she’s found the peace and happiness she searched for her whole life, and that she’s in a better place with family and friends who have gone before her. No service is planned, but you may visit to say goodbye on Tuesday, December 22nd, from 3:00-5:00 pm at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary at 4760 So. State St. in Murray, Utah.
