Karla LaRene Smith Obituary (1941 - 2018)

Karla LaRene Smith, a beloved daughter of our Heavenly Father, passed away on January 7, 2018. She was born to Elijah Sexton and Emma Meeks on May 30, 1941 in Park City, Utah. She married Larry Workman in September 1958 and later divorced. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She loved to be outdoors and to go fishing. She loved to play the guitar, sing and yodel and could always make you laugh. She was thoughtful, loving, spunky, flirtatious, fun and even though she was stubborn as can be, she was very giving and will be greatly missed. She is preceded in death by her parents, Elijah and Emma; her sister, Frances Pirraglio; and her granddaughter, Kimberly Jo Crosby. She is survived by her children: Vickie (Leonard) Lujan, Larry (Lisa) Workman, Margie Richardson, Jackie Workman, Sandy (Paul) Richardson, and Rob (Brenda) Workman; 27 grandchildren; many, many great grandchildren; her sisters, Ada Mair and Belva Tucker; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Pallbearers are Rob Workman, Larry Workman, Leonard Lujan, Cody Richardson, Doug Fouse, James Stewart , Scott Larsen and David Evans. Honorary pallbearers are Elijah Richardson, Timmy Evans, Brad Edwards, lsaac Daubin, Torren Phillips, Tyler Phillips, Anthony Fouse, Bradley Fouse, Zachary Crosby and Tommy Lujan. The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the staff at St. Joseph's Villa and to the doctors and nurses at Salt Lake Regional Hospital, especially to Matt for the kindness and love he showed to her, for making her smile and for being a friend. A viewing will be held on Friday, January 12, 2018, from 9:45 - 10:45 a.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Home, 4760 South State Street, Murray, UT. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m.. Burial will immediately follow at West Jordan City Cemetery located at 7800 South 1300 West, West Jordan, UT. ln lieu of flowers, the family will be accepting donations to help cover funeral expenses.
