Most Wonderful Mom Kate Vilate Davis Gutke returned to her heavenly father on December 31st 2005 in Roseville California at her son’s home. She was born on Feb 20, 1913 to Charles Decker Davis and Alice Orletta Hatch. She Married John Lester Gutke on Aug 30, 1934 in the Salt Lake Temple.They were happily married for over 70 years. He preceded her in death on Dec 21st 2004. She was also proceeded in death by her parents, two brothers: Ray Davis and Jess (Bud) Davis and two sisters: Marie Pace and Lueween Davis. Kate is survived by her nine children: Miriam (Keith) Holmes of California, Dorothy Kae (Glen Deceased) Turner of California, Janet Arnold of Utah, Joan (Jim) Persinger of Oregon, Diane (Joe Deceased) Petersen of Utah, John Ralph Gutke of California, Carol (Dave) Dade of Arkansas, William (Bill) Davis (Judy) Gutke of California and Ronald Scott Gutke of Arkansas. Three sisters and two Brothers: Alice Bennett of Florida, Gwen Larsen of Utah, Genevive Sargent of Utah, Bill Davis of Texas, Guy Davis of California. 39 grand children, 75 great grand children and 1 great great grandchild. Kate became politically active early in life and served as President of her Junior High School class. Later, she became active with the Utah Women’s Lobby and Salt Lake Council of Women and as well as being involved with her children’s schooling, serving as president of the PTA. Kate’s Love of God and Jesus shown in all she did and was a member in the LDS church, for a time she even served as President of Mutual in her ward. Kate loved Music, Cooking, and Flowers. She hosted many parties where she could bring these loves together, cooking wonderful meals, to share them with her family and friends, on tables decorated with flowers from her garden. Kate loved to work outside and she grew flowers year round and was working in her yard up till 2 months before her passing, gathering walnuts and raking leaves. Our Mom worked hard her entire life and set a good example for us to live by. From those you have touched with your kind heart and warm smile, we shall miss you dearly. Viewing will be Saturday, January 7th, 2006 from 10:00 – 10:45 Am followed by funeral services from 11 to 12 at the L.D.S Church, 895 West 4800 So., Taylorsville. Interment – Wanship Cemetery.
