Kathleen "Kathie" Barlow Obituary (1942 - 2010)

“Kathie”Kathleen (Kathie) Barlow passed to the next adventure on June 2, 2010. Born to Earl Walters and Mildred Asplund. Raised by maternal grandparents Ed & Julia Asplund.Married Leland (Scotty) Lamper 1957; later divorced. Married Robert Curtz 1970; later divorced. Married Ray Barlow 1977. He passed in 2005. Kathie shared the balance of her life with her close friend, Tony Chmielowiec. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude for his love and devotion to our Mom.Kathie is survived by her children: Kathryn (Don) Chapman, Scott (Terry) Lamper, Marilyn (Kirk) Allred and Joseph Lamper. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 10 great grand children, 2 step children Gara (Gary) Cook, Ray (Nancy) Barlow and 4 step grandchildren. She is also survived by Mildred Jones, half brothers Jeff & Jon Jones, half sisters Julieanne Lowe and Linda Goddard as well as an uncle, Harold Asplund, and aunt, Bernice Couton.Kathie became a member of Alcoholic Anonymous in 1970 which propelled her into a beautiful life of sobriety. She worked at Bonneville Heating & Air (71-77), owned Serenity Books (86-97) and worked at Tucson Unified School District.Kathie had a passion for life, family, friends, golf and was a master pinochle player.The family wishes to give special thanks to her dear friends, Jan Luer, Helen Wolf, John & Carol Moritz, Rita Ramey and Karen Brandel.A memorial will be held in her honor at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 So. State Street, on Saturday, June 19, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made to your favorite charity.
