Kelly C. McGinty Tafoya Obituary (1966 - 2007)

Our beautiful wife, mother, daughter, sister and best friend, Kelly C. McGinty Tafoya, age 41, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2007, at her home in Salt Lake City. Kelly was born to Earl D. and Winifred H. McGinty. She was a member of the L.D.S. Church. Kelly graduated from Cottonwood High School and earned a B.A. from the University of Utah. She was a Master of Architecture candidate at the U. of U. College of Architecture and a Patricia Harris Fellowship recipient. She married the love of her life, Shane G. Tafoya, in 2000, with whom she enjoyed spending time with the girls, trips to Moab, camping, hiking and biking. Sunday evening dinner with friends was also a favorite pastime. Gardening and a love of animals were passions of Kelly’s and her unique wit and sense of humor were with her to the end. Kelly was employed as a project manager at Fetzer Architectural Woodwork where her efforts were essential to the success of many high-level projects. Survived by husband, Shane and daughters Tiffiny, Kaylyn and Natalie; mother; sisters Michelle (Randy) Briggs, Susan (Bill) Boel; brother Steven (Jenny) McGinty; nieces and nephews and many dear friends. Preceded in death by her father and grandparents. The family would like to thank the nurses who cared for Kelly. Special thanks to Carly. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, October 27, 2007, at Mountain View Estates Chapel, 3115 East 7800 South (Bengal Blvd). A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the Cancer Wellness House or a charity of your choice.
