Kelly Haller McCloy Obituary (1957 - 2012)

Kelly “The Great” Haller McCloy, age 54, was reborn into the universe on August 29th, 2012. Born October 29th, 1957 to James Saville McCloy and Margaret Helen Ottley McCloy. Graduated from Cottonwood High School in the class of 1976, where he was on the wrestling team, and set a sit-up record by performing over 2,000 sit-ups, and named the “Sit-Up King”. Married Laureen Geldray on January 16th, 1981, and from this union fathered his son James Marlowe McCloy, and daughter Karlee J. McCloy. Later divorced, and remarried Robyn Rose Street on May 27th, 1993. A loving father, step-father, husband, son, and friend, Kelly was preceded in death by his parents, James and Margaret, and beloved “Uncle John”. Survived by his son James (Julie) Woolley; daughter Karlee; granddaughter Leila Kelly McCloy; grandson Xavier Arruda; wife Robyn; step-son Bobbby Street; step-daughter Randy Street; step-grandsons Andy Williams and Sean Street; step-granddaughters Alisha and Alex Williams; and great friends, ex-wife Laureen (Phil) Geldray, and especially their son, Max Geldray. An amazing friend to hundreds, Kelly was the fixer of anything and everything, built and flew his own airplane in a garage, practical joke king, mountain man, builder of sand rails and go-karts, daredevil and skydiver extraordinaire, an ordained minister from the Universal Life Church, he even performed marriages, including his son’s. Kelly was even a certified saint! He once broke his back at the age of 50 by jumping from the roof to the trampoline, and proved he wasn’t old by showing his grandson Xavier he could still do back flips in July. Hands down the “Best mechanic West of the Mississippi”. There will be a celebration of life on St. Kelly’s Day, Friday, September 14th, 2012, at 350 E. 5900 S. in Murray, Utah at approximately 5 P.M. This will be a potluck dinner, so bring your favorite dish and memory of Kelly to share. In lieu of flowers, feel free to make a donation to Primary Children’s Hospital. Also, in honor of Kelly , BYOB for the after party, and feel free to bring blankets and/or tents if you can’t drive home.
