LaRoyce Beckstead Fisher Obituary (1924 - 2015)

LaRoyce Beckstead Fisher, 90, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend returned to her Heavenly Father on May 26, 2015. She was born June 7, 1924 to Royal and Koradine Beckstead the second of seven children. She graduated from Jordan High and was proud to be a Beetdigger. LaRoyce was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served an LDS mission to the Texas-Louisiana Mission from 1946-1947. She met and married her sweetheart Richard Lee Fisher on November 2, 1950. They welcomed four children into a loving family. LaRoyce treasured serving the Lord. She had many callings within the church. Her favorite calling was with her husband on the Oakcrest Girls Camp Board; they served with joy for more than 20 years. One could often hear her singing Oakcrest camp songs. She loved music and how it touched her heart. LaRoyce had several occupations during her lifetime. She worked at Hill Air Force Base riveting planes during WWII, Dr. O.J. Graham's office as an office nurse, and for Jordan School District as a media coordinator where she retired after 20 years. Her life was centered on service to her family, church, and community. She taught her children and grandchildren by example. LaRoyce cared for her aging parents, and others in the community; giving comfort, food, and physical care. Her sweetest service was to her husband as he suffered the effects of Parkinson's disease for 26 years. She had a strong testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and wanted her family to know it as she shared it often. Besides her grandchildren, her favorite hobby/passion was genealogy. She also delighted in being a coordinator at the Jordan River Temple for many years. She is survived by her children; Byron (Linda Jean), James (Debra), Linda (Kelly) Draney, and Tami (John) Tolman, 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 3 sisters, 3 sister-in-laws, and 3 brother-in-laws. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, mother-in-law, and four siblings. A special thank you to all those at Beehive House West Jordan and Care Source who gave her such dignified care. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at 1:00 at the South Jordan River 8th Ward, 1239 W. Country Creek Drive (10775 South), South Jordan, Utah. Viewings will be held on Friday, May 29, 2015 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway (10600 South), South Jordan, Utah, and on Saturday from 11:30 am -12:30 pm at the church. Interment at South Jordan City Cemetery.
