LaRue Scott Wickel Obituary (1924 - 2009)

“Will Be Missed” LaRue Scott Wickel passed away on Tuesday, October 20, 2009. She was born October 2, 1924 to Margaret Ellen and William Bryan Scott in Malta, Idaho. She married R.L. Wickel on August 25, 1941. They lived on the Wickel family ranch in Elba, Idaho until they moved to Salt Lake City, Utah. LaRue worked at Murray Laundry and later retired from Albertsons after working many years in the bakery and meat department. During her retirement years, she enjoyed walking at the mall for 19 years with her close friends who stood by LaRue and R.L. through the hard times. She was known as the ‘Queen of Clean’ and had impeccable style and taste when it came to decorating and fashion. However, she will forever be remembered by her family and friends for her sweetness and unconditional love. She was preceded in death by her parents, and 2 brothers and 1 sister; she is survived by her husband, R.L. Wickel, her sons, Barry R. Wickel (Linda), Sherman L. Wickel (Cheryl) and Gary Scott Wickel (Angela), her brother, Douglas H. Scott, 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces. We are going to miss our sweet wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend. LaRue is home now, standing in the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We would like to thank those who took care of LaRue (and the family) at Highland Care Center over the past weeks. Graveside services will be held at Murray Cemetery on Friday, October 23, 2009 at 2:00pm.
