Lamar Allen Williamson Obituary (1938 - 2014)

"Skip" Nothing is harder than the loss of someone we love, Perhaps their greater purpose is to love us from above. Our much loved dear Father, Grandfather, Great-grandfather, Uncle and Friend, Skip Williamson, 75, passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2014. It is with great sadness, but at the same time we are happy for him! He is joining his mother and father and two brothers that haven't been together since 1965. What a joyful reunion it must be for them! They are once again together. Skip was born on May 11, 1938 in Salt Lake City to Charles and Flora Williamson. He was the youngest of three brothers. He attended the University of Utah, where he was a member of the Navy's ROTC. Married Joy Ann Showell in 1959, and together they had six children; later divorced. Skip went into business for himself as a very young man, and in his career he successfully ran and operated Skip's Sport and Marine, Central Sew & Vac, and most recently AAA Sew & Vac in Sandy, Utah. Married Faye Millett Andersen in 1988, later divorced, but stayed friends till the end. Skip loved and was a lifelong fan of the Utah Jazz. Many of the Jazz employees knew him as the "Candy Man", as he brought and shared his candy bag at each and every game, and always had a smile on his face. Skip loved the outdoors; camping, snowmobiling and always made sure everyone had a good time. He loved Lake Powell, where he spent many family vacations on his house boat. We will all remember his great generosity and kindness. Skip leaves behind his six children: Cary (Tawny) Williamson of Sandy; Tammy (Lee) Cassity of Draper; Sherry (Steve) Harris of Riverton; Troy (Alayna) Williamson of Kaysville; Becky (Jim) Babcock of West Jordan; Randy (Nicole) Williamson of Riverton. He also leaves behind 24 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and friends. Preceeded in death by his parents, Charles and Flora Williamson and brothers Jack and Ken Williamson. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 5, 2014 at 10:30am at Jenkins Soffe South Valley, 1007 West South Jordan Pkwy (10600 South) in South Jordan. Viewings will be held prior to the service from 9:30am to 10:15am and Sunday from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Interment will be held Monday immediately following the service at Redwood Cemetery.
