Leland Devere Pearson Obituary (1935 - 2016)

On April 10, 2016, a beautiful spring morning, Leland Devere Pearson took his last earthly breath. Leland was born on January 10, 1935 to Leland Oscar and Erma Nash Pearson in Salt Lake City, Utah. Leland graduated from South High School in 1953. He then enlisted in the United State Marine Corps and served honorably in the Korean Conflict from 1954 to 1957. Upon returning from the service he graduated from Utah Technical College and was an accomplished Master Electrician. Leland also pursued other career endeavors in his life such as selling real estate, being a court bailiff, became an electrical inspector, owned a restaurant and was an all around "Wheeler and Dealer". Leland took great pride in his hobbies. He enjoyed the camaraderie shared with friends and family while bowling, fishing, hunting and golfing. He was especially proud of his four "hole-in-ones". He also looked forward to his annual Marine Corps reunions. Leland is survived by his two brothers Paul (Linda) Pearson and Dennis (Kaylene) Pearson; cousin, Karen Rynearson and the love of his life, Gwendolyn Leitch. He will also be greatly missed by his nieces and nephews, Paula (Rick) Brown, Marianne (Lonnie) Steinke, Michelle (Gary) Thompson, Cheri (Martin) Gonzales, David (Vickie) Pearson, Preston (Traci) Pearson, Justina Pearson, Jeramiah Pearson, Kelly (Gerie) Brinkerhoff, Chandler (Lieren) Pearson, Meagan (Matt) Legerski and 17 great nieces and nephews. Leland was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Lynn Pearson, sister, Beverly Bridges and nephew, Tyler Gonzales. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 11:00am at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W. Jordan Parkway (10600 So.) in South Jordan with a visitation one hour prior. Following the services an Interment with Military Honors will be conducted at the Salem City Cemetery at approximately 2:00pm.
