Loriann Searle Stockinger Obituary (1962 - 2017)

Loriann Searle Stockinger, 55, was born April 23, 1962 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Allen Watkins Searle and Helen Jane Smith Searle. She passed away peacefully in her sleep, with her beloved dogs nearby, on October 6, 2017. She married her best friend and love of her life, John Joseph Stockinger Jr., on August 22, 1987 in Orange, California. Lori and John recently celebrated 30 wonderful years as husband and wife, and have never been happier to have been on life’s journey together. Lori loved her pets, especially her big dogs. Her favorite breed was Saint Bernards. She turned that love and her warmth and caring for people into her life’s vocation, Animal-Assisted Therapy. She dedicated close to 20 years learning about the positive impact animals can have, training her own dogs and helping train countless others. The therapy team of Lori and Rockea (2004-2011) touched hundreds of lives, and one of her favorite memories was working with children to improve their reading skills by reading to the giant Saint. Loving wife, daughter, sister, aunt, great-aunt, niece, cousin… Lori was all of these and more. As one half of “John-John and Lolo,” she even had her “proxy kids” whom she loved as she would her own. Mostly, though Lori was a friend to all who knew her, related or not. Her impact on those around her and those who were touched by her despite some distance could never be measured. She will be greatly missed and forever remembered. Preceded in death by her mother and father; brother Michael Allen Searle, and father-in-law John Stockinger Sr. Survived by her husband and canine kids Brinkley, Baxter and Maggie Mae; sisters Patty Gillespie (Dan) and Jeri Hessing (Lyle), and mother-in-law Kay Stockinger; and their families, all of whom counted Lori as one of their own. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, October 13, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Chapel, 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway, South Jordan, Utah. Viewings will be held Thursday, October 12th, 6-8 PM at the same location, and one hour prior to the funeral service. Interment at Memorial Estates Redwood cemetery (6500 S. Redwood Road).
