Lorna Millet Barney Obituary (1936 - 2015)

Our loving mother and grandmother, Lorna Millet Barney, peacefully passed away March 22, 2015 after battling cancer for 15 years. Lorna was born June 16, 1936 in Salt Lake City, UT to Byron and Georgiana Millet. She was preceded in death by her parents and 11 older brothers and sisters. She attended BYU and married the love of her life, Donald J Barney, on February 8, 1957. Their marriage was solemnized in the SLC Temple in 1958. They lived in CA, OR, AZ and then came home to Utah. She was blessed with 6 loving children and their spouses, Robyn Hamilton, Cindy and Les Gramse, Julie and Michael Cottle, Don Barney, Sherron and Tyler Baker, Jennifer and David Sharp, and 23 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and was her family's greatest cheerleader. Lorna was an avid reader and a lifelong learner. Her passions included writing, scrapbooking, playing the piano, writing poetry and composing music. She earned her Cosmetology license in her fifties. She served in many callings in the LDS church, including Relief Society President, Mutual President and as a seminary teacher for over 10 years. Lorna and Don served a full-time CES mission in Chiang Mai Thailand. She indexed over 60, 000 names during the last 3 years of her life. She lived a service filled, Christ-like life, and will be truly missed. Her funeral will be held Saturday, March 28 at 11 a.m. in the LDS Grandville building, 11677 S.
