Margarita Hernandez Castro Leal Obituary (1945 - 2021)

Margarita Hernandez Leal, 75, of Murray, Utah passed away on May 18th, 2021 at her residence surrounded by her children and her brother. Margarita was born June 10th, 1945 to Nieves Palomo Hernandez and Maria Hilaria Castro Hernandez in Villa Hidalgo, San Luis Potosi, Mexico. She became a proud U.S. citizen in 1995 and was a resident of Murray, Utah for 52 years. Margarita was a long-time member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and very proud of her faith. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters Encarnacion and Marciana Hernandez, her brother Macedonio Hernandez, her sister Maria H. Medina, and her brother Severiano Hernandez. Survived by her loving children: Gumecindo Leal Jr. (Chandee), Jose Luis Leal (the late Maria), Norma Liza Bruno (Mike), Margarita L. Gonzalez (Enrique), Victoriano Leal (Cindy), Hilaria Leal (Phillip), Santiago Leal (Kelly) and Marie Martinez (Chucky). Brothers (4) Anacleto Hernandez (Juanita), Jose E. Hernandez (Rosario), Arcadio Hernandez (Ofelia), and Magdaleno Hernandez (Keri). Sisters (4) Dominga Hernandez, Rosalia Gonzalez (late Eluterio), Isabel Cantu (Guadalupe), and Maria A. Sosa (Juan). She is also survived by 29 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. A service of remembrance will be held from 6-8 pm. Monday, May 24th, 2021 at Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Home at 4760 South State Street, Murray, Utah. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am. Tuesday, May 25th, 2021 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 1375 East Spring Lane, Salt Lake City, Utah. Following Mass, the graveside will take place at 12:30 pm, at Elysian Burial Gardens Cemetery, 1075 East 4580 South, Millcreek, Utah. Pallbearers will be her sons Gumecindo, Jose Luis, Victoriano, Santiago and grandsons Jason, Ricardo, Victor and Diego.
