Obituary for Matthew Jordan Lundstrom

Our journey alongside Jordan came to an end on the day of his grandmother’s birth, when at the fork in the road, Jordan went down the other path. Jordan was gifted with a spectacular Utah autumn night of football along with the good fortune to be surrounded by his coaches and teammates and experienced, to quote Coach Birch, “… no other place I’d rather be!”

Born to John Lundstrom and Theresa Libert, Jordan was blessed to have lived his first fifteen years as a true son of Nevada. Delivered and raised by Dr. John Erickson, Theresa and brother RJ in Reno, he experienced a life that gave the world to him. Jordan ran, skied, golfed, fished, hunted, dove and sailed the seas of the world John and Theresa opened for him.

Always looking for new paths to follow, he packed up and traveled to Utah and became the fourth generation to walk the hallowed halls of Jordan High. And just as he did in his first fifteen years, he attacked the next sixteen with unbridled zeal, fervor and passion, without fear! Jordan was taken into the hearts and homes of so many very kindhearted and good people. From Jane keeping him fed to the Babkas watching over him.
Jordan lived an epic life and we would like to express our deepest heartfelt thanks to all those many others that walked next to him and most of all, we truly appreciate the men of the GOLD Dot for giving Jordan the greatest final years of his young life, spent with a comradery, loyalty, fidelity, brotherhood and friendship that a parent would gladly want their son to share in and live.

Jordan bids farewell to his dog Canis Bartikus, parents John Lundstrom and Theresa Libert (Keith), his brother Troy and sisters Tatum and Serena. Uncles John “Butch” Despain, Layne Lundstrom (Sue) and Todd Floyd (Tiffany). Aunts, Michelle Mosley and “Mean Ant” Jodi Larrinaga and Dennis Vickery. Cousins Aaron and Quincy Mosley and Ryly Augerre (Daniel) and sadly his maternal grandparents, Bob and Helen Floyd.

Jordan will turn west this time in his journey, following the setting sun and return to the high Sierra deserts of Nevada, where he will join Frank, Andy, Joey and Zac racing through the sage and Pinyons. Always aware that the ever watchful eyes of Grandma Otegui had them in sight, always! Jordan walked the razor’s edge all his life and when the fierce winds became his enemy and the heavens gathered darkness, Jordan’s eyes never lost their brilliant blue shine and his smile grew brighter and he knew that all things will give strength and will be for the good.

We love you Jordan and you will forever be present in our hearts and souls. We look forward with great anticipation to the day we join you again upon the path and travel it by your side.

Jordan High School has created an academic scholarship in Jordan’s honor. In lieu of flowers, a scholarship has been established in Jordan's name at Jordan High. Contact- Connie.evans@canyonsdistrict.org for information.
