Melody Lynn May Mitchell Obituary (1972 - 2019)

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Melody Lynn May Mitchell on Wednesday, July 17th, 2019 at her home in West Valley City, Utah. During her short 47 years, she enriched and brightened the lives of all who knew her with her fun, exuberant personality and willingness to embrace and enjoy all life has to offer. She was a Cheerleader at Cypress High School, Customer Service Representative at Cruise One, Server at Wagon Master and Cheesecake Factory and “Life of the Food Court” at Costco. She spent her time encouraging, supporting and cheering her son, Jesse in his soccer tournaments and school activities. A dedicated mother, her focus and purpose was to provide him with all he needed to have a happy and full life. She left this earth knowing Jesse is a talented athlete, a straight A student and an extraordinary young man. Melody was preceded in death by grandmothers and grandfathers and her step-mom, Sandy Helm. She is survived by her mother, Patricia Ann Hansen, of West Valley City, Her father, Robert Howard May and wife, Bobbi May of Show Low, Arizona; her sister, Colleen Cook and husband, Roger of Alpine, Wyoming; her brother, Shaun May and wife, Jeanne of Mineola, TX and their families; sister, Nichole Wilkerson of Hurricane, UT; and the love of her life, her son, Jesse Wyatt Mitchell. Jesse has selected a beautiful urn for his mother’s remains which will be interred at a later date. Memorial services will be held at Academy Park LDS Ward Chapel, 4605 Westpoint Drive, West Valley City, Utah at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 23rd, 2019. In the cultural hall, following the services, friends and family are invited to a “Celebration of Life” where we will share our fondest memories, laugh together, support one another, and honor her life with laughter and joyful recollections of all she has meant to each of us. May we all call upon these joyful memories of happy times with Melody and find peace and comfort knowing that she is now free from the hardships and challenges of this mortal life. She was welcomed into the eternities by loved ones who have gone on before and who are grateful to have her home with them and her Father in Heaven and Savior, Jesus Christ.
