Merril J Anderson Obituary (1934 - 2018)

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and dear friend, Merril J Anderson, 84, passed from this life on July 28, 2018 in Murray, Utah. Born on May 5, 1934 in Fountain Green, Utah the sixth child of Arthur Glen Anderson and Theora Christine Christensen Anderson. He grew up in Fountain Green and loved hunting on the family farm there. He graduated from Moroni High School in 1952. He served in the U.S. Navy and was proud to be a veteran. Merril graduated from the Radio Institute in Salt Lake City in 1959. Was employed at Unisys for 42 years. He married Cherrill Kendall on February 5, 1960 in the Manti LDS Temple. The parents of four children, Merril and Cherrill raised their family in West Valley City. Merril gave quiet, selfless service behind the scenes in many callings in his LDS wards, and served his neighbors by mowing lawns and shoveling snow. He was able to repair any broken appliance, stalled car, or a television on the fritz. He was a true gentleman, wonderful husband and great father with a kind and gentle demeanor. He is survived by his wife Cherrill, children Ellen (Russ) Bulloch, Paula (Brad) Fitt, Blaine (Jennifer) Anderson, Jill (Joel) Pilling, sister Dorothy (Max) Ostler 15 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, sister Mary, brothers Wendell, Clair and Forrest. Services will be held Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in the Glenmoor 10th Ward Building, 4881 W. Cindy Lane, South Jordan. Viewings will be held at the church on Tuesday, July 31st from 6:00-8:00 pm and Wednesday prior to service from 9:00 -9:45 a.m. Interment will be at Moroni City Cemetery at 3:00 p.m.
