Michael Douglas Irvine Obituary (1957 - 2007)

Michael Douglas Irvine, age 50, passed away from natural causes at his home in Riverton, Utah on Monday December 31, 2007. Mike was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, May 25, 1957 to Robert Douglas and Shirley May Irvine. Mike graduated from Skyline High School, attended the University of Utah and Salt Lake Community College. Mike was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, holding the office of an Elder. Throughout Mike’s life he exemplified the principles of brotherly love to all those he came in contact with. Mike found joy in providing service to others. Bringing happiness into another’s life was a successful day for Mike. His undying desire to bring joy and happiness into others lives will be an example to all of us who knew him. For over thirty years Mike’s father and brother were blessed to have worked together in various businesses; manufacturing boats, construction and real estate investments. He was currently one of the partners in Irvine Investment. Mike’s adventurous spirit either by truck, motorcycle, or scuba gear took him to many ghost towns, Indian ruins, gold mines, and underwater mysteries. His love for electronics and his creative ability made him popular and loved by kids of all ages. Mike had a love for trains, full sized and model, instilled in him by his grandfather. Mike is survived by his parents Robert and Shirley Irvine, brother Robert Scott (Michelle) Irvine, three nieces Mckenzie, Kaitlyn, and Ashleigh Irvine and one nephew Zachary Irvine. We all loved him and will miss him dearly. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2008 at 12:00 noon at the Crescent Ridge 6th ward building, 11164 South Londonderry Drive (1500 East), where a visitation will be held prior to the services from 10:45-11:45 a.m. A visitation will also be held on Friday, January 4, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary 4760 South State Street, Murray. Interment: Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Primary Children’s Hospital in the name of Michael Irvine.
