Obituary for Michael Frank Beavers

Michael Frank Beavers
October 21, 1964- January 2, 2019

Michael Frank Beavers, 54, was born on October 21, 1964 to Frank and Mary Lou Beavers at Holy Cross Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah. He grew up in Murray, Utah with his parents and two sisters, Diane and Amy. He attended Murray High School, graduating class of 1983. He later moved to Texas, attending University of Texas- Dallas graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Science for Orthotics and Prosthetics. He met the love of his life, Jennifer Moore Beavers in 1989. He instantly accepted her two daughters, Heather and Amanda as his own. Mike and Jennifer married on June 19th,1993 at St. Albans Episcopal Church in Austin, Texas. Eventually moving back to Murray, Utah in 1994 and returned to Shields Orthotics and Prosthetics to begin his career as an Orthotist/Prosthetist. He changed countless lives with his talent, specializing in cranial remolding orthosis. His ability and experience in his career allowed him to make corrective shoes for his grandson, Kade Scott. Kade was able to maximize his full athletic potential because of his Papa Mike which he will forever be grateful. Mike was also able to help his father-in-law maintain his independence when his crippling disease was stealing it from him. Mike developed a prosthetic device for his hand allowing him to feed himself. This was life changing for his father-in-law to maintain his dignity and independence.

On July 21, 1994 his world was changed forever when his daughter, Courtney Leigh Beavers, was born. She was the light of his life and would forever dedicate everything he had for her. She was his “Shorty” and his “Sprout”.

Over the next few years they built friendships with neighbors who quickly became family and they would make memories that could keep them all laughing for a very long time. He loved his Utah family and the abundance of memories will be cherished forever.

Mike enjoyed camping in Fairview and Morgan, he loved hiking, exploring Utah National Parks, attending Utah football games, and riding the four wheeler with his pup, Misty. He loved that dog. He lived and breathed Courtney and her softball. He was her #1 fan and would be the loudest parent in the stands. He loved rocking out to Metallica, Eagles, Guns n Roses, Los Lonely Boys, and Carpenters, just to name a few. Mike’s quick wit and unrelenting humor was infectious. He could light up a room with his jokes and had a heart of gold.

Unfortunately, over time, he began fading from us due to the disease of alcoholism. He fought a long, hard battle and ultimately lost his fight. We are all heartbroken. Addiction is a horrible disease that steals from us all. Fly free bird, fly….

Mike is survived by his daughter, Courtney Beavers (Trevor), the love of his life, Jennifer Beavers, his stepdaughters, Heather Scott (Michael) and Amanda Skowronek (Mike), four grandchildren, Kade Scott, Braxton Skowronek, Austin Skowronek, and a baby grandson on the way. He is also survived by his sister, Diane Clayton, mother-in-law, Zelda Moore, in-laws Sharon Brubaker (Terry), Russel Moore (MJ), Garrie Moore, Jeff Moore, Aunt Jo Ann Moore and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and family. Preceded in death by his parents, Mary Lou and Frank Beavers, sister, Amy Calvert, father-in-law, (Ret.) Lt. Col. William R. Moore, aunt and uncle, Tom and Sherry Alexander.
