Michelle Chenoweth Holladay Obituary (1967 - 2007)

“Shed” Michelle Chenoweth Holladay passed away peacefully in her bed November 6, 2007 after spending the evening with friends and family, after a difficult struggle and years of illness with lupus and pulmonary hypertension. Michelle was born in Salt Lake City on January 23, 1967. She was adopted by Leo and Ruth Chenoweth of Murray, Utah and lived there until she graduated from Murray High School. She worked at Village Inn at 14, and started at Godfather’s Pizza in Murray at 16 where she developed many friends and met her soul mate, Dennis. Dennis and Michelle moved to New Hampshire in 1986, and worked in the pizza business together until their return to Salt Lake in 1989. Michelle worked at the University Hospital for years and left for an opportunity to become a 7-11 store manager, where she was awarded “Manager of the Year”. She had an incredible work ethic and developed great relationships with her employees and “her customers”. Returning to Salt Lake was rich and rewarding. Michelle met her birth Mother, Ruth Swanson, and suddenly had a new huge family that loved her. She was so excited to have cousins!—and learn of her Hispanic roots. In December of 2005, Michelle became extremely ill and battled septic shock. It was a miracle that she survived. She strived to get better, to get back to living and working, and in May was diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension. It was such a disappointment she could no longer work, but she lived each day as needed and carried on with crafts and cooking and entertaining friends and family until the end came. She will now be at peace and not suffer any more, bringing relief to her and her friends. Michelle married her best friend and soul mate May 16, 1992. They had a special and rewarding relationship. She touched the hearts of so many people she met—she will never know. Michelle is survived by husband, Dennis; her cat, “Kitty”; mother, Ruth (Steve Swanson); brothers, David Corder, Mark Chenoweth, and Cory Burt; father, Leo Chenoweth; and step-mother, Betty Chenoweth. She is also survived by cousins; aunts; uncles; and a fabulous legacy with many excellent friends. A Memorial Gathering will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Sunday, November 11th, at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 So. State Street. The Funeral Services will be Monday, November 12, 2007 at 10 a.m. at the mortuary, where friends and family are also invited one hour before the service. Interment will be at the Mount Olivet Cemetery. Special thanks to Hospice of Utah for bringing her peace, Doctor David Shaskey and Dr. Greg Elliot and his assistant, Natalie Kitterman. Michelle always joked that in lieu of flowers, she wanted more flowers. She loved them. Please plant a perennial in your garden in her honor.
