Millie

Millie Kehl, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother passed away at age 92 on October 2, 2018.

Millie was born at home March 14, 1926 in Salt Lake City, Utah to loving parents, John Peter Severson and Marie Guttormsen Severson. She was the middle child of three. She grew up in Salt Lake City and was a proud graduate of South High School. She met Frank Kehl while roller skating and soon after he was called to service. Four long years later, he came home from the war and proposed. They were married July 29, 1945.

She passed her Civil Service Exam prior to graduating and was hired immediately. She was an accomplished clerical asset where her office skills were appreciated by many employers. The Utah Fish and Game, various insurance companies, office manager for Allied Plumbing and Heating, where she retired from to pursue her passion for golf. Frank and Millie were life time members of Alpine Country Club, where they spent many hours enjoying the game, friends and the beauty around them. They both served in many positions at the club.

She loved her family dearly and is survived by her children: Rick (Mary) Kehl, Anne (Dick, deceased), Dudley; grandchildren: Shaun Dudley, Chris (Brenda) Dudley, Holly Kehl, Matt Kehl, Nick (Sarah) Kehl; great-grandchildren: R.J. (Tiffaney) Dudley, Mylie Ockey, Luke Davis, Jordan and Collin Dudley, Hannah, Graham, Reid and Emma Kehl; and great-great-grandchildren: Kynadee and Rydger Dudley. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, her sister Lillian Hardy Confer, her brother Kenneth, her husband Frank and son-in-law Dick.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at 12:00 noon at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway, South Jordan, Utah, with a viewing from 11:00-11:45 am. Burial will follow at the Utah Veterans Memorial Park.

The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to her physician, Doctor Sean Curzon, and all of the many caregivers who assisted her in her final days.

Millie’s father and mother immigrated from Norway. Her father was a man of many talents. He excelled in penmanship and calligraphy, which Millie learned. He was a great fisherman and mechanic.

Millie had a great love for animals. She worked for the Fish and Game Department. If any animal was ever in distress, she would stop her car and help.

Millie grew up near Derks Field. A fond memory of hers was when her and her friend would climb the fence to see the game. They would wait at the top of the fence until a baseball player would come and tell them to jump. The players would catch them, and they enjoyed many games.
