Norene Sarah (Potts) Hancey Obituary (1923 - 2015)

Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother returned home to our loving Heavenly Father January 19, 2015 in Murray, Utah. She was 91 years old. She lived a long and happy life enriching and edifying her growing posterity. She was born on July 31st in Salt Lake City, Utah to Sarah (Wilkinson) Potts and Samuel W. Potts. She was the 9th child of 11 children. She began caring for her siblings at a young age and took on many of the responsibilities of the home. She married her sweetheart Earl Benson Hancey on February 21, 1942 and were later sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on April 21, 1963. She is preceded in death by her eternal companion and are now reunited once again. She was the proud mother of 6 sons whom she loved and cherished: Ronald (Helen), Dennis (Phyllis), Gary (Linda), David (Charlotte), Kevin (Nadine) and Rick. She and Earl were very proud of their posterity. They have 21 grandchildren, soon to be 50 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild with another one on the way. She had a deep and profound love for each of her children and grandchildren, every one holding a special place in her heart. Norene loved collecting Madame Alexander dolls and other collectibles, which have become special keepsakes for her family. She had a strong mind and a sharp memory, never missing a birthday or anniversary of any of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even their spouses. She loved the Gospel and her Savior and serving in many callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Norene is preceded in death by her husband, (Earl); her parents, (Sarah and Samuel); and 8 siblings. She is survived by her 6 sons and their posterity; her brother, Jack Potts; and her sister, Dorothy Taylor. Funeral Services will be held at 12 Noon, Friday, January 23rd, 2015, at the Winder Stake Center, 1250 East 4530 South, Holladay, Utah.
