O. Kent Forbush Obituary (1929 - 2015)

O. Kent Forbush, 85, died on Saturday, January 31, 2015. He leaves behind his wife of 58 years, Hilda (Hierboeck), his two sons, Greg (Laurie) and Gary (Loriann), and his three grandchildren; Hilary, Amy and Eric. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, David T. Forbush. Born and raised in Murray, UT, the son of Orval Lester and Kathleen Eliza Reynolds Forbush. He was brought up during the Great Depression and graduated from Murray High School in 1947. He went on to serve in the Air Force from 1951-1955. He was stationed in Germany. When he came back to the states, he met his future wife Hilda at a church meeting, and they were married on May 29, 1956 in the Salt Lake Temple. He worked many years at Kennecott Copper and went on to become a teacher. One of his proudest accomplishments was when he completed his Masters in Education from the University of Utah. He had a true passion for teaching, and was involved in education for 38 years. The majority of those years were spent at Midvale Junior High. Kent was a universally friendly person, who loved to talk to everyone. He loved playing cribbage, traveling, reading about historical and current events, and playing in a harmonica band. Some of the best days of his life were when his children and his grandchildren were born. He was incredibly proud of his family and was happiest when they surrounded him. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 5, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Willow Grove LDS Ward located at 8539 South 2200 West, West Jordan, UT.
