Oliver "Bunny" Long Obituary (1920 - 2013)

Our beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather from Geeley, Colorado passed away peacefully due to natural causes in Draper, Utah at Wentworth Stratford House. In 1939, he was selected for the All-State Football team, then graduated from Loveland High School. He attended Colorado College at Greeley. He was drafted into the military and served in the Coast Guard at Alameda Naval Base in Oakland, California and was discharged honorably in 1946. He was awarded the Lifetime Honorary Award from the Colorado Board and Football Officials Association after decades of officiating football and basketball games. He worked as a Dairy Supervisor for Meadow Gold for 30 years, then after retirement, became well know as the ice cream man. Bunny loved fishing, hunting, skiing, golf, and being with his family. He was a member of the Greeley Wesleyan Church. He always had a great laugh and a strong handshake. Bunny is survived by his son Myron Long, his daughters-in-law, Lynn and Jan, 17 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years Lucille and his son Ron. Funeral services were held on Friday, August 16, 2013 at 11:00 am at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, South Jordan, Utah. A viewing was held from 10:00-11:00 am. A graveside service will be held on Monday, August 19, 2013 at 12:00 noon at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Greeley, Colorado.
