Paul Douglas Prothero Obituary (1944 - 2011)

Paul Douglas Prothero passed away on June 25, 2011 from complications of diabetes. He was born May 3, 1944 to Elizabeth and Dean Prothero and grew up in Springville. Paul served a mission in the Central Atlantic States. He attended BYU where he met the love of his life, Viva May Brown. They were married May 19, 1967 in the Salt Lake Temple. They raised their six kids in South Jordan and were blessed with nine grandkids. Paul worked as an accountant in the trucking industry for 44 years. He enjoyed playing tennis, basketball, and hunting, but his passion was golf. His humor and quick wit made him a friend to many and a popular story teller. He loved serving in the church especially teaching the youth. Paul will be missed by his wife Viva, and kids Paulette Wellisch, Brett (Aracely), Jaren (Megan), Amanda Oras (Mike), Paige, and Emberly; grandkids Kaelee, Alyssa, Brett Jr, Bryan, Mikey, Johnny, Avie, Madison, and Mia; his brothers Earl and David; and sister Susan Dunn. Preceded in death by his parents, his sister Linda Monson and honorary uncle Artie. The family wishes to thank all medical staff that helped him with his care including Dr. Bigelow, Dr. Lambert, Dr. Call, and Access Home Health. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 30, 2011 at 11 am at the River 8th Ward, 1255 W Country Creek Road (10775 South), where family and friends may visit from 10-10:45. A viewing will be held at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway (10600 S.), Wednesday, June 29, 2011 from 6-8 pm. Interment Riverton City Cemetery.
