Peta Sione Tuita Obituary (1934 - 2020)

Our beloved Peta Sione Tuita, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend passed away peacefully in her home February 14, 2020 surrounded by her loved ones. Born and raised in the village of Vaimalo in Vava’u Tonga. Peta was the eldest child of Lesieli Afuha’apai and Sione Tuita’s 11 children. Peta’s legacy will live on through her only daughter, Sela Mafi Tuita Toki; grandchildren: Sione (Fusi), Petueli (Camilla), Sisilia (Semisi) Pau’u, Mahonrai, Patiola, Mele (Kivi) Afuvai, and Beverly; and great-grandchildren: Selamafi, Pitisi, Clifton, Elias, Peta, Koloneita, and Victoria. She is survived by her siblings: Fifita Tonga, Salesi Tuita, Tulia Tuita, Laifone Tuita and Mele Massey. Preceded in death by her sisters, Amelia Muchnik and Ana Tuita, and her brothers, Makeke, Siaosi, and Kite. Peta’s greatest joy was serving faithfully in every capacity as a proud member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her life was devoted to ministering to those she loved and to her community. At a young age she was given the responsibility to raise her younger siblings due to the loss of their father. It didn’t end there; it extended to the children of her siblings, their children and grandchildren. Family was everything to Peta. She loved unconditionally and taught with love as well, leaving behind a legacy of love and exemplifying the importance of Family. She will be remembered as a valiant daughter of God and will be dearly missed by all who knew her. A public viewing will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2020 from 7:00-10:00 p.m. at the Taylorsville Utah North Stake located at 1250 West Atherton Drive, Taylorsville, Utah 84123. A family viewing will be held on Friday, February 21, from 9:00-11:30 a.m., followed by a Bishops Program from 12:00-1:00 p.m., both at the church. Interment will be at Redwood Memorial Estates from 1:30-2:30 p.m.
