Maez passed away December 30, 2005 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on a farm just outside of Pagosa Springs, Colorado on December 30, 1918 to Elena Martinez and Carlos Large. Married Manuel Maez on October 13, 1939. Phoebe was a devout Catholic and was an active member of St. Vincent’s Catholic Church for many many years. Survived by her 3 grandchildren; Kathy Valdez (Kristi), Russell Jeffery Maez Sr., and Mark Maez Sr. (Phyllis), 8 great grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and close friends. Preceded in death by her parents, brother and sisters, husband, children; Roger, Levi, Charlie and last but not least her loving dog Esperanza. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to all the wonderful staff at Pine Ridge Care Center and also to John, Debbie, and Bill from Odyssey Health Care for their care and compassion. Holy Rosary to be recited Friday, January 6th at 7 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 So. State St. Friends and family may call Friday at Jenkins-Soffe from 6-7 p.m. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated at St. Vincent’s Catholic Church (1385 E. Spring Lane) on Saturday, January 7th at 11 a.m. Interment at Mt. Calvary Cemetery (275 U Street)
