Preston B. Day Obituary (1941 - 2010)

Preston B. Day was born on February 4, 1941 in Salt Lake to Harold Day and Bertha Butcher. He was raised in Kaysville, Utah. Married to Sharon Giacoma, his loving wife and best friend. He started his own brick mason company – DAY MASONRY – in 1965. Over the years, he built many beautiful houses and structures in Utah and Wyoming. He was always proud to be a Bricklayer and was the BEST AT IT, always demanding perfection. He loved training new Brick Masons and Tenders. Preston was an honest, hardworking man who was always fair with everyone. He raised his family in Granger and moved them in 1978 to South Jordan. It was there he got into horses. He was very particular about how the horses were taken care of. Very few days went by without Preston and Sharon riding. You could always find them at the Equestrian Center where he made a lot of friends and will be greatly missed. Showed in Quarter Horse and Intermountain Reining. We are all proud of the accomplishments he had on horses and he did it his way by trial and error reading and watching a lot of videos. Preston loved old restored trucks but always said he didn’t have time to be their care keeper. Survived by wife Sharon, children Pete Day and Susan Borchardt and her three children: grandsons Preston, Wes and Colton Day; brothers Steve, Kirk and Monte, nieces and nephews. His horses Splash, Whalen, So and Nick. His beloved dogs Patty and Bandit. Preceded in death by daughter Cathleen who had been patiently waiting for him. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 11, 2010 at 11:00 am at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway (10600 S.) where a viewing will be held Sunday, October 10, 2010 from 5-7 pm and Monday from 10-10:45 am prior to services. Interment South Jordan City Cemetery.
