Rand Ferris Olsen Obituary (1947 - 2007)

“PaPa” Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, coach, friend and respected colleague Rand F. Olsen passed away peacefully in his Sandy home on the morning of October 11, 2007. Randy was born October 14, 1947 in Provo, Utah the son of Ferris and Lenora Olsen. On January 23, 1968 he married his high school sweetheart Diana Nielson in the Salt Lake Temple. They are the proud parents of 4 children and 9 grandchildren. While attending Brigham Young University Randy started his eternal family and upon graduation, he began a successful 35 year career in the insurance industry. Randy was blessed with an attractive personality and humorous communication skills, which built and maintained many genuine friendships in his field of work. Over the years, he was awarded several accomplishments and multiple “Insurance Man of the year” awards. Some of “PaPa’s” greatest joys in life were being involved, participating and coaching baseball, basketball, golf, football, T-ball, and dance, for his kids and grandkids. He was their greatest fan!! Missing a game was not an option. From the front yard to the ball field, “Hard Hitting” was always coaching. He recently enjoyed the opportunity to help coach his grandson in the Taylorsville baseball program. He was a loving family man whose face would light up whenever his grandchildren would walk through the door and visa versa. He truly is and will always be the heart of our family and the ultimate example of love. Survived by his wife Diana, sons Bryan (Cynthia), Sean, Joel R. (Darci), and daughter Ashley (Seth). Grandchildren Brandon, McKenzie, Nicolas, Brinley, Brody, Alex, Ella, Brock and baby Samantha. Preceded in death by his mother Lenora. “PaPa’s” greatest joy was his family especially his grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held Monday, October 15, 2007, at 11:00 am at the Hillcrest 3rd Ward, 8600 South 1200 East. Friends and family may call Sunday, October 14, 2007 from 5-7 pm at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway (10600 So.) and 1 hour prior to the service at the church.
