Remona Idona Unthank Obituary (1921 - 2012)

Remona Idona Unthank was called home by Our Heavenly Father on July 21, 2012. Remona was born to George Christian Daniels and Lillian Elizabeth Olsen on July 30, 1921 in Moroni, Utah. She married Norval Borg Unthank on July 13, 1940 in Pioche, Nevada. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Mom was a loving woman who always thought of her children and grandchildren. Whether it was a birthday gift or trinket, she wanted to “treat us all alike.” She took great joy in all of her families’ accomplishments and when her health permitted, supported all of our interests and endeavors. Mom excelled in needlecraft, making doilies for friends and crocheting afghans and baby blankets for her family. She was an active member of the LDS Church and served along with her husband as ordinance workers in the Jordan River Temple. She loved gardening, entertaining and sharing her home with friends and family. She especially loved family gatherings and celebrations. Mom and Dad were also knows as “The World Travelers” as they have vacationed in many foreign lands. Remona is survived by her son, Chris Unthank and daughters, Donna (Jerry) Orton and Netta (Lynn) Langston. She has 9 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 8 great, great grandchildren. Remona was preceded in death by her husband, Norval, parents, Chris and Lillian, daughter in law, Bonnie Unthank and great grandson, Marine PFC Jake Suter. We would like to extend our gratitude to our friends and family who provided love, care and support during her long health decline. We would like to especially acknowledge Ramon and Suzie Madrid who lived next door to Mom and Dad for many years and are wonderful neighbors and dear friends. Funeral services will be held Thursday July 26 at 1:00 pm at Jenkins-Soffe Chapel 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway, South Jordan, Utah. A viewing will be held at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, July 25th and at noon on the 26th. Interment will be at Redwood Memorial Estates 6500 So. Redwood Road, Taylorsville, Utah.
