Richard L. Olsen Obituary (1933 - 2006)

“ Ollie” Dick Olsen passed away July 11, 2006 in SLC, UT from heart complications. He was born March 5, 1933 in SLC, UT to Fayben Charles and Vera Chader Olsen. He married Sherrill Rae Clark and raised three wonderful children; later divorced. Dick graduated from Jordan High School, attended the U of U and participated in the ROTC Program. He worked for Marler Tire Supply, learning the tire business from top to bottom—later built, owned and operated his own tire recapping plant for 30 years, Ollie’s Tire Supply. He was the inventor of the Cheater Slick that was used in stock car racing. Dick loved his family. He enjoyed anything to do with the outdoors—camping, fishing, boating, hunting and camping. He really loved his cat, Kadie. He was very proud of building his first home from ground up at age 23. Survived by sons, Brian Patrick (Tammy) and Richard Todd; daughter, Susan Traughber; 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers; and 3 sisters. Preceded in death by his parents and a brother. Services will be held at the LDS Chapel at 6350 So. Rodeo Lane (1545 E.) on Saturday, July 15, 2006 at 1 p.m. Friends and family may call from 6-8 p.m. on Friday evening at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 So. State St., and one hour prior to services at the church. Interment Redwood Memorial Estates.
