Rita Rae Erickson Obituary (1942 - 2007)

“Duffy” Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend passed away on Friday, February 9, 2007, due to complications from chemotherapy. She was born March 20, 1942 in Litchfield, Minnesota to Raymond L. & Ester Gierke Anderson. Graduate of Litchfield High School, Litchfield, MN, Class of 1960; moved to Minneapolis to attend Robinson Beauty College, graduating in 1961. On December 7, 1963, she married Richard W. Erickson, an established, self-employed excavation, asphalt paving & railroad contractor in Salt Lake City, UT. As their business grew, Rita became the heart of the operation. She enjoyed the beautiful scenery of the Wallsburg Valley from her kitchen window overlooking the pond in front of her home. She enjoyed feeding and watching the birds, she loved her animals, especially her dog “Bingo” and "Sadie” an abandoned kitten that she rescued. She enjoyed bowling and golfing and the many friendships she made. She was known for her hard work and unbelievable devotion to her family. She will always be remembered for her supportive, thoughtful, kind, loving and unselfish nature. She is survived by her loving husband and companion, Richard W. Erickson; children, Pamela Rae Erickson, 42, and Todd Richard Erickson, 40; grandchildren, Troy Todd Erickson, 21, T-Jay Ray Erickson, 16, and Zeth John Williams, 16; nieces and nephews also survive her. Her mother and father precede her in death. Services will be held Saturday, February 24, 2007 at 11:00 AM at the Christ Lutheran Church, 260 East 5600 South, Murray, Utah. Family and friends may call one hour prior to services. Burial will be held at Memorial Estates at 6500 South Redwood Rd., West Jordan, Utah. The family requests your attendance at the luncheon to be held in her honor at the Fairfield Inn located at 594 West 4500 South, Murray, Utah, following the burial.
