Ruth Lockett Overman Obituary (1913 - 2013)

Our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Great-Great-Grandmother Ruth Lockett Overman passed away under the caring staff at Intermountain Medical Center in Murray Utah on June 24, 2013 at the spectacular age of 99. Ruth was born to Phillip and Ella Lockett in Salida Colorado on October 10, 1913. She was the second of five children; sisters; Eva, Regina, Francis and brother, Oliver. Ruth spent her childhood on ranches and mining camps throughout central Colorado. She relished talking about her incredible and loving childhood and could remember names dates and specific incidents from over 90 years ago as if they were yesterday. She married Arch Overman in Colorado and had three children; Norman Overman (Delene), Eloise Lindquist and Beverly Lowe (Rex). Throughout almost a century of wondrous adventures and experiences, one of her favorites was being a Senior Companion until age 85. Ruth loved animals but her passion was flowers of every variety and color. Her favorite was a rose and was disappointed to see them fade with the passing of the seasons. She was fiercely independent, wise and funny. We will continue to laugh and cherish her antics. She was so loved by all who knew her. She is survived by her brother Oliver, son Norman, daughter Eloise, eight grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. Proceeded in death by; her parents, daughter Beverly, and three sisters. Our beautiful Mom, Grandma and friend, we will miss you so much and look forward to meeting you again in a place where the flowers NEVER fade. A celebration of Ruth's long glorious life will be held Saturday June 29th 2013 at 5:30 PM at the Redmond residence on 6002 South 700 West. All friends and family are welcome to share in this celebration. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your local Animal Shelter or Humane Society.
