Ruth Elizabeth Smith Panson Obituary (1929 - 2013)

Ruth Smith Panson, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away December 8, 2013 of natural causes. She was born in Maryland in approx. 1929. The details of her parentage and infancy were never known to her as she was left in a hospital around the age of three after a diagnosis of polio. She was cared for by several foster families and was eventually fostered by Emma Kathryn and Frank Smith. They brought her to Utah around the age of six. They raised her in the Murray area and she graduated from Murray High School in 1948. She married Ellis Panson (later divorced) She married Dean Egbert (later divorced) and Richard Locker (later divorced) She was very social and made friends easily wherever she went. She loved animals and always had a dog or a cat or both. She loved crossword puzzles and books and she enjoyed gardening. She is survived by her son Steve (Martee) Forney, Texas, 3 grandchildren, Mike (Stefan), Newberg, Oregon, Jonathan, Cottonwood Heights, Utah and Jill (Donald) Childs of South Jordan, Utah. Also 6 great-grandchildren. It was her wish to be cremated and placed near her Foster Father and Brother in Murray City Cemetery. A Private Memorial will be held at a later date.
