Obituary for Ruth "Jean" Worthen

1940 ~ 2018

Ruth Jean Worthen, 78, passed away November 27, 2018 at Legacy Village in Taylorsville, Utah after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was born October 25, 1940 to Elmer Wayne Wallace and Thelma Edna Dugdale, and is the oldest of four sisters. She married John Franklin Worthen on September 4, 1959 in Salt Lake City, UT and had six children. Jean and John were lucky enough to be able to spend three of their early married years in Samoa working for the LDS Church Education System, where they had many wonderful experiences. Jean was a devoted wife and mother who stayed at home for many years while raising her children. When her children were older, Jean enjoyed her time working for Olympus High School and the time she spent with the friends she met there. After retirement, John and Jean were called to a service mission at Intermountain Medical Center where they served for many years. John and Jean also had many adventures with the Temple Riders Motorcycle Association.

Jeanie will be greatly missed by her loving husband of 59 years, John Franklin; children, Michelle (Glen) Brooksby, Mikel Worthen, Tamara (Rick) Jimenez, Teresa (Larry) Sadler, David Worthen, Jami (Josh) Braun; sisters, Judy (Leonard) Robb, Sherry (Rick) Hurt, Becky (Jim) Hill; as well as 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Sherry.
