Seth William "Bill" Taft Obituary (1938 - 2018)

1938 ~ 2018 Taylorsville, Utah – Bill Taft passed away peacefully in the early morning hours on Tuesday, October 16, 2018. Bill was born December 1, 1938 in Torrey, Utah to Seth Coleman and Madge Hickman Taft. He graduated from Wayne High School in 1956. He served his country faithfully in the U.S. Navy. He went to Electrician School in Connecticut while he was in the Navy. He came home and worked at a gas station, where he met his sweetheart, Linda Lee Aaron. They were married on on November 5, 1960 in Salt Lake City, Utah. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on July 6, 1966. They lived in Salt Lake until 1967 when they moved to Pocatello, Idaho. While he lived there, he was working for Western Dental as a salesman. He also owned a motorcycle and snowmobile shop called “Jet Set Sports.” He sold that business and went into another one in Idaho Falls. He moved his family back to Utah where he lived for over 40 years. He worked in the dental field for many years attending to the needs of the dentists and their staff. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt with his sons. He loved to race snowmobiles and motorcycles and he sponsored his own racing team. He loved watching his sons and grandsons compete. Bill was very active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served with his wife on an inner city mission, was on the High Council, was Stake Missionary President and Primary Teacher, and he also served in the temple. He loved his family very much and supported them in whatever they did. Bill is survived by his sweetheart, Linda; daughters, Michele (Kyle) Mansfield of Lapoint, Utah, Debbie (Mark) Powell of South Jordan, Utah; sons, William Richard (deceased) (Stephenie) Taft MacDonald of Plain City, Utah, Seth Scott (Jill) Taft of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Robert Gene (Christy) Taft of Herriman, Utah; 25 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandson. He is preceded in death by his parents and his son, William Richard. Funeral services will be Monday, October 22, 2018, at 11 a.m. at the Westwood Heights 1st Ward building, 3976 W. Dimrall Dr., Taylorsville, Utah, with viewings at the church Sunday, October 21, 2018, from 5-7 p.m. and Monday from 9:30-10:45 a.m. Interment: Salt Lake City Cemetery.
