Shawn Arthur Harman Obituary (1962 - 2017)

Shawn Arthur Harman, 55, returned back home to his Heavenly Father. Shawn was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on October 29th 1962 to Gordon Edwin Harman and Jo Ann Sutton Harman. Shawn was a beloved son, brother, father, and grandfather. Shawn graduated from Cottonwood High School and later attended Eagle Gate College for a degree in Law Enforcement. Shawn had a love for his job as a security officer. He was happiest when he was in his guard uniform protecting and helping others. As a child and teenager, Shawn loved to play baseball and was known as the family jokester. He loved playing jokes on and telling jokes to his brother and sisters. Shawn served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. One of Shawn's favorite things to do was to spend time with his son and daughter, Stephen and Vanessa. One of their favorite things to do as a family was to ride bicycles together. Shawn was so excited to be a grandfather and loved sharing his grandson's picture with everyone he came in contact. Shawn loved playing chess, listening to music, writing poetry, and going for car rides in the canyon. Shawn was an avid bowler and was a part of many bowling leagues. Shawn is survived by his mother Jo Ann Harman; sisters: Sherrie Shaw (Dennis), Jackie Jones (Randy), and Pennie Thompson (Andy); brother Doug Harman; son Stephen Harman; daughter Vanessa Wayment (TJ); and grandson Jordan Wayment. He was preceded in death by his beloved father, Gordon Edwin Harman. A celebration of life will be held at 11 AM on Monday, February 12th at the Taylorsville 3rd Ward, 1457 West Atherton Drive Taylorsville, Utah 84123 and will be followed by a burial at Larkin Sunset Gardens 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South) Sandy, Utah 84092.
