Shawna J. Matthies Obituary (1957 - 2016)

"Our Angel" Shawna Jean Matthies, age 58, passed away May 17, 2016, from congestive heart failure in American Fork, Utah. Shawna was born September 10, 1957, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Charles L. Matthies and Janet LaBronte Matthies. Shawna was a pure angel, only here on Earth for her body. She'd never turn down a cookie, a sunny drive or a ride on the Heber Creeper. She was a joy to all who knew her. Shawna will be missed by her mother, Janet; brothers, Michael K. Matthies and Charles "Matt" Matthies (Melanie); sister, Shannon M. Smith (Tim); nieces and nephews; aunts and uncles; and her loving family unit and caregivers at Willow Creek family unit 7. She is preceded in death by her father. The family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to all of the loving care providers in the Willow Creek family unit 7. You all took such good care of our sister; we never had to worry about her because we knew she was in the best hands. A viewing will be held Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 S. State Street, in Murray, Utah from 1-1:45 PM. Graveside services will follow at 2 PM at Murray City Cemetery. A memorial will be held at a later date for family members and care providers at USDC.
