Shelba Price Simper Obituary (1921 - 2010)

Shelba Price Simper daughter of James Alfred Price and Annie Dora Hansen Price passed away at her home on the evening of March 17th, 2010. She had been struggling ever since she fell in February of 2009 and broke her pelvis. She recovered somewhat from that fall but was never able to heal to a point of being fully independent. She had a wish to remain at home and through the loving support of her family and many caring nurses, she was able to do so. We would especially like to thank the staff at Heartwood Hospice. They were angels and truly loved Shelba. Shelba married Ralph D. Simper in the Salt Lake Temple October 2nd, 1942. She had three children, Paige, Gregg, and Jeff. Shelba was very talented. She composed music, wrote plays, and played the piano. Many road shows, short stories, poems, and songs were the product of her creativity. She always enjoyed being involved in the arts. Shelba was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and as such served in many different capacities. From the Relief Society, to Young Women’s President, to Road Show Director to Cub Scout Den Mother, Shelba always served with a willingness and devotion. Because of her dedication to the Lord she was able to teach her family about things of the spirit. She taught her children to pray and helped nurture their faith. Shelba is preceded in death by her husband Ralph D. Simper and her son Gregg Price Simper. She is survived by her daughter Paige Maughan (Larry), son Jeff Simper (Lynnette), daughter-in-law Shannon Simper, 11 grandchildren, and 21 great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 20th at Murray 1st Ward, 363 East Vine Street. A viewing will be held at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 S. State Street, from 6-8 p.m. Friday March 19th and one hour before the funeral services Saturday at the church. Interment will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Utah Veterans Memorial Park.
