Shirla LaNae Soffe Holt Obituary (1924 - 2016)

Shirla LaNae Soffe Holt passed away peacefully March 26, 2016, surrounded by her family. She was born October 5, 1924 to William "Roy" Soffe and Lucy Ann Stocking Soffe in South Jordan Utah. Shirla was the youngest of 9 children, and the last one to leave this earth. She married her high school sweetheart Ralph C. Holt April 16, 1945. Shirla was one of a kind. She was entertaining to anyone who got to know her quick wit and unique sense of humor. Shirla was well read and knew everything that was going on in South Jordan. She was involved in the community, going to town meetings and always willing to fill you in if needed. She enjoyed watching many different sports, quilting, canning, going for long walks, playing Farkle, cuddling babies, caring for others, spending time with her grandchildren, reading the daily paper and sparring with anyone who wanted to debate politics. Shirla was a devoted homemaker and proud mother of 6 children. She was adored by her children, 13 grandchildren, and 26 great grandchildren. Shirla set a great example for them, and taught them how to be a good person in all aspects of life. Her children were amazingly devoted to taking care of her, especially the last five years, while living at the Legacy House in South Jordan. Shirla will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She is survived by four children, Sandra Damjanovich, Rhea (Dave) Heaps, Blaine (Sandra) Holt, Claudia (Brent) Dall, 13 grandchildren, and 26 great grandchildren, who brought such great joy to her life. Preceded in death by husband Ralph, sons Tim, Chris and son-in-law Dennis. Graveside services will be held on Saturday April 2, 2016 at 2:00 pm at the South Jordan City Cemetery 10650 South 1055 West. Friends and family may call on Saturday from 12:30 – 1:45 pm at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway (10600 So). The family would like to give thanks to Brighton Hospice and give thanks and gratitude to The Legacy House of South Jordan, including the staff and the many friendships she quickly made that brought such happiness to Shirla's last hurrah.
