Shirley C. Ottley Obituary (1921 - 2014)

"Together Again" Our dearly loved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and friend, Shirley Crabtree Ottley, returned to her Heavenly Father and her eternal companion, Myron, on April 30, 2014. Shirley was born July 7, 1921 to Marlow L. Crabtree and Elizabeth Almira Covey Crabtree in Salt Lake City, Utah. The family later moved to South Cottonwood (Murray), Utah where she lived the remainder of her life. Gram was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for as long as her health permitted. She was proud to have achieved her Golden Gleaner Award as a young woman, and served faithfully in the Primary and Relief Society organizations. Her favorite calling was as a teacher and leader of 11 and 12 year old boys in the Scouting program. She loved attending the Temple, and working in the German Extraction program. She was a member of the South Cottonwood Daughters of Utah Pioneers, and served as Captain for several years. Gram is survived by her children; Kay (Richard) Paul, Marcia (Richard) Orr and Roland (Sharen) Ottley; six grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, two sisters, Gwen Davis and Helen Larsen; and brother, George Crabtree. The family would like to thank all who have given such loving care to Gram, including Sharon, Joanie, Connie, Heather, Brighton Home Health and Hospice and the staff of Carrington Court. Friends and family are invited to attend a Funeral Service on Monday, May 5, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Little Cottonwood 8th Ward, located at 6180 S. Glen Oaks, Murray. Viewings will be held on Sunday, May 4, 2014 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State Street, Murray, Utah, and Monday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church.
