Som Phimmalaythong passed away on May 18, 2012. He was born September 1, 1946 in Laos to Leuong & Som Phimmalaythong, the oldest of 5 siblings. He joined the army in Savannaket in 1961, at the young age of 15. After leaving the army for Thailand, Som was in a refugee camp from 1975 until 1979, when he was sponsored to come to the United States. Som settled in Salt Lake City, Utah where he lived for the remaining years of his life. Som was a very dedicated, hard working and loving man. He taught his children these values by his everyday actions. Survived by his wife, Vatsana Phimmalaythong, two children in Laos and four in Salt Lake City, Utah. Services will be Sunday, May 27, 2012 at 1:00 PM at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway, South Jordan, Utah.
