Susanne Whitaker Procter Obituary (1958 - 2019)

Our beloved wife, mom, grandma, daughter, sister and friend returned to her loving Heavenly Father on July 7th, 2019, after courageously battling cancer for two years with help from her family and friends. She was born on August 13th, 1958, to Ralph and Donna (Empey) Whitaker with siblings Connie, Kristine, John and Mary. Her family knew her as the sunshine girl due to her bright and cheery disposition. She was physically active and competitive all her life. She loved playing sports and games. In high school she enjoyed singing, gymnastics and drill team. Later in life her favorite pastimes were water skiing and ping-pong. She attended West High and the University of Utah. In 1978, she married the love of her life David Frenette Procter in the Salt Lake Temple. She fulfilled her most important life goal by raising three wonderful and righteous children as a stay at home mom. After her children were raised, she worked at West Jordan Middle School and Valley High School. She was a sweet mom who loved being a mother and grandma. She loved each of her children and grandchildren with unconditional love. She found joy in spending time and playing with them even when she was very sick. She was a woman of great faith in the gospel of Jesus Christ. She demonstrated a beautiful example of faith in God’s Plan of Happiness and in the power of the Savior’s Atonement, which sustained her and others through difficult times. She put others needs in front of her own and spent her life serving. She served in many church leadership positions in the stake and ward over the years. Words can’t begin to express our deep sorrow and immense love for Susanne. We will forever have her in our hearts and memories. We know we will see her again and rejoice together in heaven where there will be no more tears of sorrow. Susanne is survived by her husband David, father Ralph, daughter Jessica Vanderhooft (Janssen), son Christopher Procter (Elise), daughter Jennifer Davis (Cody), three grandchildren, and three siblings. Susanne is preceded in death by her mother Donna, sister Mary Chatterton, and nephew Craig Chatterton. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 15th, 2019, at 11 a.m. in the Kearns South 34th Ward, 5905 South 4000 West, Taylorsville. Viewings will be held at Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Home, 1007 W South Jordan Parkway, on Sunday July 14th at 6:30-8:30 p.m. and immediately prior to the funeral on Monday 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the chapel. Interment will be at Memorial Redwood Cemetery, 6500 S Redwood Road, Taylorsville.
