Syda Vongthongchith Obituary (1922 - 2013)

Our beloved Syda Vongthongchith has left us to a happier place on Tuesday, January 8th, 2013. She has joined her late husband Somphanh.We are saddened by her death, but take comfort in the beautiful memories of her love and devotion she had for her family. Her presence alone has provided us with love and happiness. The whole family was blessed to be by her side to the very end.Syda was born in Laos on January 20th, 1922. She is the oldest of four children. She came to the United States in 1980 with her husband and children. She was an amazing and strong woman. She spent her whole life taking care of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Some of her hobbies were sewing her own clothes, cooking for her family, and growing vegetables. She was always willing to give a helping hand to anyone and everyone in need. She was very dedicated to the Buddhist Temple. She had more love to give then anybody could receive.Syda is survived by her children Vahnaly (Khambane), Bounsy (Phouy), Phetsamone, her grandchildren Thu (Khamnoy), Chue (Lari), Chay (Sang), Peter, Chris (Jenny), Phillip (Nancee), Noanne, Neena, Nelson, and her many great grandchildren Natalie, Esabella, Alishka, Chandler, Tyler, Ava Lee, and Tyson. Also her niece and nephews Phoung (Nith), Bounmy, and Pankham.A viewing will be held on Friday, January 11, 2013 at 6-9pm and the funeral will be on Saturday, January 12, 2013 from 1-5pm. Both viewing and funeral will be held at the Jenkins-Soffe South Valley location at 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway (10400), South Jordan, Utah 84095.Syda will be forever missed and loved.
