Ted K. Farnsworth Obituary (1932 - 2010)

Our loving husband, father, and grandfather, Ted K. Farnsworth, passed away March 13, 2010 at home of natural causes. He was born April 2, 1932 in Salt Lake City to Thad Theodore and Arvella Wilcox Farnsworth. He graduated from East High School and the University of Utah, where he was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity. He subsequently completed graduate work in accounting on the east coast. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Ted later met Della Hatch, and they were married in the Logan, Utah L.D.S. Temple on August 10, 1962. Ted’s life revolved around his family, his garden, and sports. He was an avid University of Utah athletics fan, and was the proud recipient of the University’s “Superfan” award. During much of his younger adult years, most of his free time was taken with coaching his sons’ teams and attending his daughter’s dance performances. He worked for many years as an accountant and co-owner of Machinery Center, Inc. Ted drew great enjoyment out of nurturing a wonderful garden and sharing the produce with many friends and family members. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and held numerous church positions throughout his lifetime. He will be deeply missed. Survived by his wife, Della; son, Steven; son, J. Richard (Amy); daughter, Lynne; and his grandchildren, James, Sarah, Kate, and Jacob; all of Salt Lake City. Preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Lola. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 18, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the South Cottonwood Stake Center located at 1250 E. Murray-Holladay Road (1250 E. 4800 S.) Friends and family may pay their respects from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 So. State Street, and from 9:00-9:45 a.m. on Thursday morning at the church prior to services. Interment will take place at 4:00 p.m. at the Panguitch City Cemetery, Panguitch, UT, with military honors.
