Ted W. Pathakis Obituary (1932 - 2009)

Ted W. Pathakis; loving husband, father, grandfather, friend, and citizen, passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 21, 2009. He is now happily reunited with his sweetheart Carlene and son Ricky. He will be greatly missed by his children, Andrea (Ed) Fischer, Scott (Lori), and John (Juli), 9 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. He and his wife, Carlene had an extraordinary marriage which began April 15, 1953, and solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Their example of love and marriage was a gift to all. Born in Brigham City, Utah on February 6, 1932 to Andrew and Edith Pulsipher Pathakis, Ted later moved to SLC, where he graduated from West High and from the University of Utah. A natural athlete, Ted played catcher for many years, football, and tennis. He was a master chess player, an avid photographer, and enjoyed traveling, painting, and maintaining his various collections. Ted served in the Army during the Korean War. He was employed by the BLM, Sperry Corp., and over 25 years with American Express, making many lifelong friends. Ted had the ability to brighten a room with his booming laugh, his interesting conversation, and his sincere interest in everyone he met. He had the talent of making people feel loved and important. He was an example of unconditional love, kindness, and generosity. The family expresses their deep gratitude to Edie Winkelman for helping to fill Dad’s last 3 years with love and laughter. Viewing will be Friday, April 24 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Jenkins-Soffe (4760 So State). Funeral services will be Saturday, April 25 at 11:00 am with a viewing at 10:00, at Cottonwood Acres Ward Bldg -981 E Revere Cir. (5500 S). Interment will be at Salt Lake City Cemetery.
