Todd J Andreason Obituary (1966 - 2020)

It is with immeasurable sadness we must announce the passing of our beloved son, husband, father and friend Todd J. Andreason, too soon and cruelly due to COVID-19, on April 4, 2020. Todd was born February 12, 1966, in Murray, Utah, the first of two children, to Joan and Jay Andreason. He grew up in the city where he was born, attending Murray High School where he played baseball and basketball and met the love of his life, LaNece Robinson, though neither of them knew it at the time. Todd's love of sports would persist throughout his life leading to many years playing fast-pitch softball with the Rebels in a recreational league and many more years as a die-hard fan of the Dodgers, the Utah Jazz and the University of Utah, a man born into a Utah red family who married into a family of devoted BYU blue. Nine years after graduating Murray High School, he would find his true love, LaNece, and they would go on to build a beautiful life together, being blessed with two children, Brooks Robinson (of course, named after a famous baseball player) and Tatum Olivia ("No, Cody, you cannot call her Olive"). Few things brought Todd pleasure like being a father. He never tired of watching Brooks on the cross country course or the basketball court and he never missed one of his events. Sports were a uniting pastime for father and son. And though Tatum never opted to participate in sports, her dad loved to hang out with his girl and never passed up the opportunity to go on Maverik runs together. Todd loved his children, understood who they are and accepted them unconditionally. Todd's calm, even demeanor served him well over a lifelong career in the hotel hospitality industry working for, among others, Hyatt and Grand America, but he never loved any of those places like he loved his work at the Stein Eriksen Lodge at Deer Valley. He had the ability to diffuse potentially explosive situations with quiet words and concrete solutions which is an invaluable skill to have when you work where the rich and famous play. These same qualities likewise served him well at home as any man daring to marry one of the Robinson girls will attest. It's a true measure of his love for LaNece that this burger man, through and through, would often eat spaghetti, which he never liked, because it was his wife's favorite. Also, the fact he was allergic to cats but there was always one in the house because LaNece loves cats. Todd was a quiet man and, yet, he was an incorrigible tease, and his many nieces and nephews loved that about him. Being given nicknames by Uncle Todd, which he loved to do, was a badge of honor and a delight to all. Todd was a gardener extraordinaire. He would spend hours working in his yard. And, yes, living on an acre lot where they chose to put many flower beds and even more grass makes this an absolute necessity, but Todd truly loved the time he spent outside. For many years he spent countless hours with his late father-in-law Renn Robinson toiling side by side in the yard. For Renn, it was that he loved to work hard; Todd just loved the work. They had a widow who moved in next door, and Todd gladly took care of her large lot, as well, for quite some time. It was his only true hobby and yet more than just a hobby at the same time. Todd will be remembered for his quiet strength, his steadfast support, his big, soft heart which was on display anytime there was a background story on anything from"Real Sports" to "American Idol," ("I'm not crying, you're crying"), his devotion to his family, his hard work. And mostly, his goodness. Todd was just a good, good man. We miss him already. Todd is survived by his beloved wife LaNece, son Brooks and daughter Tatum, and his mother and sister. A special thanks to the staff at Lone Peak Hospital for their valiant efforts on Todd's behalf and for all their hard work that is yet to come in these times. Due to the circumstances of the quarantine, there will unfortunately be no services to honor the memory and celebrate the life of Todd Andreason.
