Todd Seth Dam Obituary (1950 - 2016)

Todd Seth Dam (1950–2016) passed away peacefully at his home on November 10th after a three-year battle with brain cancer. Todd was born in Vietnam to Dan Thien Dam and Ha Le Chau. He loved photography and music since he was young, especially singing. Todd had a dedicated darkroom in Vietnam and participated in several international competitions, including submitting a prize-winning photo in the ACCU Photo Contest. He graduated from the National Conservatory of Music and Theater in Saigon, majoring in vocal performance. He married Fan Kwan in 1975, twelve days after the Vietnam War ended. Since coming to the United States he worked at Paragon Press for twenty-four years. He loved his job so much because it was related to his hobby in photography. He was also involved in many Asian American community organizations in Utah. He was a long time board member of the Utah Indochina Chinese Benevolence Society. He also served as conductor of the Salt Lake Chinese Choir since 2002, performing several times a year as conductor and as a soloist at cultural events, community gatherings, disaster relief fund raisers, and diplomatic events which included local governments and foreign dignitaries. He was a board member in the committee for planning, construction and organization of the opening ceremony of the Chinese Heritage Gate, which was completed in 2012 in the Utah Cultural Celebration Center. Todd is survived by his wife and two sons, two grandchildren, all his brothers and sisters, as well as his mother.
